Psychoanalytically informed counselling
What is it?
I understand the mind through the Freudian and Lacanian lens and I work using the assumptions pinned by psychoanalysis. My counselling is based on understanding how the unspoken, repressed, forgotten, dusty memories from your past have created the symptom.
I understand the symptom as something that causes some sort of discomfort in life. A product of the unconscious created to express something that cannot be put into words.
This space, is all about slowly following the thread of knots, through language, bringing us to where it all started and learning how the firsts knots were created in the first place.
This is a non-medicalised approach, which understands emotions, thoughts, behaviour, and expressions as part of the human condition, a result of the strong powers we are constantly subjected to, such as love and grief. Your life, your narratives, and your suffering will not be pathologised with a diagnosis. This is about you: you talking and you listening to yourself. My role is to facilitate that process by offering a second listening.
How does it work?
Our encounters will be based on the principle of free association. The way this works is by you talking about anything that comes to your mind, without censoring yourself, no matter how embarrassing, illogical, or irrelevant you think these thoughts might be.
You can talk about anything that pops in your head during the session. Also, you can talk about childhood memories, or dreams.
Free association allows unconscious material (via the conscious thoughts and interventions), such as inhibited thoughts and emotions, traumatic experiences, or threatening impulses, to come to the surface where they can be interpreted. These interpretations can help you recognise patterns and understand thoughts or emotions that were unknown to you before. It is with this understanding (essentially, listening to yourself via psychoanalytic work) that you might be able to go back and see how and where in your life the ‘knots’ were formed.
How much is it?
Since I want to be accessible to people of all economic backgrounds, I work with a sliding scale fee system that allows you to pay what you can afford. Negotiation of the fee is part of the counselling itself and will be done in the first session.
In the near future, I want to offer a patronage-based subscription and/or one-off contributions so that people can help fund counselling for those who are suffering but cannot afford to pay.
I only accept private payments. I do not accept payments from Gesetzliche Krankenkasse (public/compulsory health insurance) or from Private Krankenversicherung (private health insurance).
In what languages do you offer counselling?
I offer counselling in English, Catalan, and Spanish.
How often do we meet?
Currently, I see my clients at least once a week.
How/Where do we meet?
Nowadays, I only offer visits online, via video call. In the future, I will also be available in domo.
